What is pet sitting?
Pet sitting differs from boarding in that a pet sitter cares for your pet in the comfort of your own home rather than in a kennel. The duties of a pet sitter vary based on the needs of the owner and the pet. The number of visits per day that the pet sitter makes to the home is determined by the pet owner; this usually ranges from one to three visits per day depending on the type of pet being cared for. Each visit is comprised of one hour of time spent in the home. During a visit, the sitter provides the necessities for your pet such as food, water, and access to bathroom breaks. In addition, Ruffin' Around's pet sitters will clean out litter boxes, take the dog for a walk, play with your pet, provide treats, or just spend quality time with your pet. Also, if desired by the owner, our pet sitting staff will vary lights in the home or bring in the mail at no extra cost to you. Ruffin' Around's pet sitters make a complimentary first visit to the home prior to your departure. This enables us to meet you and your pet, to become acquainted with where the pet supplies are kept in your home, and to receive more detailed instructions about the care of your pet.

Some pets become stressed when they are taken to a kennel. These pets do exceptionally better when they remain in the comfort of their own home. Pets tend to be less stressed in a familiar environment. Therefore, even though their owners are away, these pets usually eat and drink better as well as use the bathroom more regularly at home than in a kennel.
